Two Satellite Winners Go Heads-Up for First 2024 Poker Masters Title
The 2024 Poker Masters Presented by PokerStars NAPT is underway at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas, and the first event — $5,100 No-Limit Hold’em — came down to a pair of satellite entries on Wednesday.
Spencer Champlin and Jessica Vierling battled it out for the title, and the former came out victorious. Both players gained entry into the mid-stakes poker tournament via a $560 buy-in satellite at Aria.
Poker Masters Event #1 Final Table Results
| Place | Player | Prize |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Spencer Champlin | $160,475 |
| 2 | Jessica Vierling | $98,250 |
| 3 | Dylan Linde | $72,050 |
| 4 | Dan Shak | $52,400 |
| 5 | Zachary Grech | $39,300 |
| 6 | Nicholas Seward | $32,750 |
Vierling Nearly Does it Again
Vierling, a German-born poker pro who resides in Las Vegas, took down the World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) Main Event at Commerce Casino in May for a career-best $328,273 score. She nearly scored another huge victory to kickoff the Poker Masters, but had to settle for second place and $98,250.
Champlin, on the other hand, cracked the $3 million lifetime mark in live poker tournaments, according to The Hendon Mob, by winning Event #1 for $160,475, beating out a 131-entrant field. Dylan Linde took third place for $72,050, Dan Shak finished in fourth place for $52,400, Zachary Grech claimed fifth place for $39,300, while Nicholas Seward rounded out the final table in sixth place for $32,750.
But the big story in this tournament is that it all came down to a couple of satellite winners, something that rarely occurs in PokerGO Tour events that feature some of the best poker players in the world. Vierling now has over $1.2 million in lifetime live tournament cashes, and she’s having quite a year on the tournament circuit with nearly $540,000 in results, nearly doubling her pre-2024 career results.
The Poker Masters features eight no-limit hold’em tournaments ranging from $5,100 to the series finale $25,200 buy-in event on Sept. 18. Stephen Chidwick, who claimed the coveted Purple Jacket last year, is the defending series champion.
Event #2: $10,100 No-Limit Hold’em kicked off Wednesday and will play down to a winner on Thursday. Six players remain, including Jeremy Becker and Dan Sepiol, the top two chip stacks heading into the final table.
